The topic-specific workshops were designed to introduce early-career faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers to the broader science communication community and teach them to use social media, storytelling, and a web presence to network with other scientists and engage with diverse audiences. The event was run by Dope Labs Podcast creators and hosts Zakiya Whatley and Titi Shodiya and sponsored by the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute with support from the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences; the EMS Energy Institute; and the college’s Department of Geosciences, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering. All sessions were recorded and video will be made available to all Penn State scholars from February 15 – March 1, 2022
Dope Labs Science Communication Week took place February 7 - 10, 2022 via Zoom
Anyone with a Penn State email address has a second chance to catch the sessions they may have missed. All five sessions were recorded, and the recordings are available for all Penn Staters to watch through March 1.
