Please join us on March 14 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the EMS Energy Institute (C213 Coal Utilization Lab) for our 2024 Energy Xchange Seminar Series. This week's presentation will feature Erica Smithwick, Director of the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute and Distinguished Professor of Geography, with her presentation titled, "Penn State's Climate Consortium: Partnerships for People and the Planet". This event is free and parking is available at the Institute at 4 p.m.
Abstract:
How can Penn State leverage its resources and expand its partnerships to address the climate challenges faced in Pennsylvania and across this world? In Fall 2023, the Climate Consortium was established to address this question. In this talk, Smithwick will provide an overview of the Climate Consortium's mission and goals, review its themes and current activities, and identify opportunities to get involved. Research initiatives within EMS, especially in energy and energy transition, are foundational to Penn State's potential to innovate solutions that address both environmental and social issues associated with climate change mitigation and adaptation; ensuring the Consortium supports and amplifies these activities is critical, and Smithwick will invite dialogue as to how best we can do that work together.
